DAVIS, CALIFORNIA (KOVR/KCRA/CNN) - A man was seen walking holding a black and grey American flag, outside UC Davis Medical Center in honor of a Davis police officer who was killed in the line of duty.

He says it has a blue and red line to show support for law enforcement.

The Davis Police Department said officer Natalie Corona was shot while investigating a three-vehicle crash Thursday.

Officials say she was 22 years old and has only been out on her own for just a few weeks.

“As she was investigating the car crash for some reason shots were fired,” said Lt. Paul Doroshov. “The officer sustained a bullet wound and was rushed to the UC Davis Medical Center."

Officials say the suspected shooter was later found dead in a nearby home.

Investigators say it appears he shot himself.
