New Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is certainly a hot topic at SEC Football Media Days. Muschamp is thought to be a huge addition to the Tigers, who already have a potent offensive reputation with head coach Gus Malzahn.

Although everyone knows Nick Saban was the true boss of the defense, Muschamp served as LSU's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2001-2004. He made a highly positive impact on many different players.

"Will Muschamp brought intelligence, intensity and enthusiasm every day," said former LSU star linebacker Trev Faulk. "He related well to us players and we wanted to play well for him as well. He was a great teacher and he was a fun coach to play for."

Faulk played at LSU from 1999-2001 and made 300 career tackles as a Tiger. He was a Butkus Award Semifinalist his senior year and played a key role in LSU upsetting Tennessee to win the SEC Championship. After several years in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams, Faulk went into coaching. He is entering his fourth season as head coach of Northside High School in Lafayette and said Muschamp has been a huge influence in this regard as well.

"As a coach, I try to bring the same intensity and enthusiasm for the game every day and try to make the game fun for my players," Faulk continued. "In addition, I spend time with my players outside of football related events and get to know them as young men."

After a 5-0 start last season, Auburn stumbled to an 8-5 overall finish. Coach Malzahn says a lack of pass rush, was a major reason for the collapse. In the annual Iron Bowl against Alabama, Auburn was not only defeated 55-44, but also allowed over 500 total yards of offense. The fiery Muschamp is being counted on, to fix such glaring problems.
