GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (RNN) - The teen accused of fatally shooting three of his classmates and wounding three others is facing six felony charges, according to court documents released today.
On May 30, a grand jury indicted 17-year-old T.J. Lane on three counts of aggravated murder for the deaths of three students at Chardon High School. He also faces one count of attempted aggravated murder and a count of felonious assault.
It's possible that Lane could spend the rest of his life in prison.
On Feb. 27, Lane allegedly walked into the Chardon High School cafeteria and shot six students.
Three of the students - Russell King Jr., 17, Daniel Parmertor, 16, and Demetrius Hewlin, 16 - died as a result of their wounds. A fourth victim, Nick Walczak, 17, was paralyzed from the waist down after the attack, while two additional victims were treated and released with no permanent physical damage.
The shooting took the town of Chardon, OH, by surprise. The town serves as a commuter hub for people working in nearby Cleveland.
Lane was not a student at the school but did wait at the campus for a bus, which took him to a nearby alternative high school.
Many of Lane's friends and acquaintances told media that he never showed signs of depression or anger before the shooting, but Facebook posts indicated he may have been more troubled than he appeared.
"He's a very confused young man," Robert Farinacci, the attorney for Lane's family, told the media shortly after the shooting.
Lane's arraignment is scheduled for June 8.
