It Begins: Corruption trial underway for former Judge Bridget McCafferty

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Trial for former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Bridget McCafferty started Monday morning.

McCafferty faces one federal charge of making five false statements to law enforcement.

The statements were regarding conversations with Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and former Auditor Frank Russo.

McCafferty had been scheduled to stand trial with Dimora, but her attorney argued that would not be fair and the judge agreed.

She lost her seat on the bench last November, losing by almost 16,000 votes.
